Farm Wool Shop - Yarn, Patterns, Fibre and Equipment for Knitters, Weavers, Spinners, Dyers, Felters and Rughookers

Gaspereau Valley Fibres opened during the last days of May 2003 in Maritime Canada by Julie Rosvall, that\'s me, and Brenda Gilmour a local shepherd and fellow spinner, weaver and knitter. Our retail shop catering to fibre artisans, as well as workshop space, is located on an incredible piece of farmland in the Gaspereau Valley. Brenda\'s farm, the River Road Wool Farm consists of a large 80 year old post and beam barn which houses the sheep, a century old apple barn, 10 acres of pasture bordered by a brook and large workshop where the shop is housed. The large open space is constructed of huge beams, ship\'s knees and an expanse of windows overlooking gardens, and the sheep pasture. You can enjoy Brenda\'s flock of registered Cotswold sheep, an ancient breed from England, now endangered, which produces long, lustrous, curly fleece, sought after by handspinners. Our goal is to bring to the Canadian and Internet marketplace quality products for spinners, weavers, knitters, felters, dyers and the list goes on. Our website is a work in progress, as is the retail shop. This area is rich in history, from the expulsion of the Acadiens, to tubing on the Gaspereau River, Wolfville being the longtime home of Mary Black, the author of the Key to Weaving and the building in which we operate being used to dismantle cars during World War II.
